India to provide Rs 69 million assistance for goiter control in Nepal

Among the important national current affairs, On 8th January 2015 Indian Govt decided to provide 69 million rupees to Nepal as assistance to launch goitre control programme in Nepal. Nepal will be launching Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme (IDDCP).

Book titled The Indian Parliament - A Critical Appraisal written by Sudha Pai and Avinash Kumar released

On 8th January 2015, New book titled "The Indian Parliament - A Critical Appraisal" was released by Vice President Hamid Ansari which is authored by Prof. Sudha Pai and Avinash Kumar of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Book provides a deep analysis of the relationship between the functioning of Parliamentary institutions and the rapid changes that has been witnessed by the Indian society and also examines the credibility and legitimacy of the Indian Parliament.  

Yash Pal Singhal appointed as DGP of Haryana by Haryana Government

On 8th January 2015, Mr. Yash Pal Singhal was appointed as Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He took charge of this post with immediate effect and succeeded Mr. S N Vashisht. 
Mr. Yash Pal Singhal is IPS of 1983 batch. He will be serving at this post till March 2017. 

Dandi Kutir museum inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi

On 8th January 2015, New museum Dandi Kutir was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi opposite to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It was inaugurated on the occasion of 13th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD).
This newly inaugurated museum displays various aspects of Mahatma Gandhi's life in the form of sculptures and also have audio-visual presentation of milestone incidents of the Indian Independence Movement. 

Modibo Keita named as the Prime Minister of Mali

Among the International Current Affairs, On 8th January 2015, Modibo Keita was appointed as new Prime Minister of Mali. President of Mali Ibrahim Boubacar Keita confirmed his appointment.
He succeeded Moussa Mara, who resigned on 8th January 2015. 

India to provide USD 60 million Line of Credit to Guyana for road infrastructure projects

To help Guyana to tackle its transport problem, Indian Government will be providing 60 million US dollars Line of Credit (LoC). Guyana will be using this for its road infrastructure projects and passenger ferry services. 
On the sidelines of 13th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Gandhinagar (Gujarat), PM Narendra Modi had a bilateral talk with Guyana President Donald R. Ramotar during which this decision was taken. Guyana President Donald R. Ramotar is also the chief guest of Pravasi Bhartiya Divas.

K K Paul sworned in as new Governor of Uttarakhand

 Among the Important Appointments On 8th January 2015, Mr. Krishan Kant Paul sworned in as sixth Governor of Uttarakhand. His oath of office and secrecy was administered by Chief Justice of Uttarakhand Justice V K Bisht at Raj Bhavan.
He succeeded Governor Aziz Qureshi who is now Governor of Mizoram. Mr. Krishan Kant Paul is IPS of 1970 batch of AGMUT cadre. He was also commissioner of Delhi Police from February 2004 to July 2007 and after his retirement in 2007 he became member of Union Public Service Commission. 

Maithripala Sirisena won Presidential Elections of Sri Lanka

Among the Important International Current Affairs, On 9th January 2015, Mithripala Sirisena won 2015 Presidential Elections of Sri Lanka. Results were announced by Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya.
He defeated Former President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa from United People's Freedom Alliance who got 47.6 percent by getting 51.3 percent votes. Mithripala Sirisena belongs to United National Party.

Tata - SIA's Vistara airline started domestic flight operation in India

On 9th January 2015, Joint venture of Tata-SIA Vistara airline started its flight operation in India and its first flight was from Delhi to Mumbai. After Air India and Jet Airways, Vistara will be third full-service carrier in India. 
Vistara airlines also plan to operate 87 flights in the first year, with five leased Airbus A-320s and later it plans to increase up to 301 flights by the fourth year.
