Mallya faces laundering case, bar on Rs 515 crore

Vijay Mallya was hit by
a double whammy on Monday as a Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) restrained him from
accessing the Rs 515 crore that he was to receive from Diageo Plc as
settlement, while the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering
case against the flamboyant businessman, who not long ago was known as the king
of good times.
AIIMS tunnel for patients hits hurdle
A
tunnel being built to link the AIIMS main building with its trauma centre,
which is located off campus, has hit a roadblock.
After spending Rs 40
crore to build a 614-m underground stretch, the hospital authorities have
discovered they don't have permission to build an overground road near
Safdarjung Hospital.They have now sought PWD and the corporation's permission.
Ambulances driving from the main block to the trauma centre take the congested
Ring Road and often get stuck for 30 minutes; the tunnel will cut the time down
to five minutes.
Mumbai's 1st test-tube baby is now a mom
Thirty
years after she made history , Mumbai's first test-tube baby, Harsha
Chavda-Shah (in photo), delivered a child of her own on Monday .
The baby boy was
delivered using Cesarean-section by the same team of doctors who had helped
Harsha's parents conceive her using in vitro fertilisation techniques in 1986.
Harsha and her accountant husband Divyapal Shah told TOI that the baby , born
on the auspicious day of Shivratri, was a gift from God. “I am God's gift and I
believe my baby is also special,“ said the mother in a feeble voice, still
recovering from the surgery at Jaslok Hospital. “My baby is a blessing for me
and there are no words to explain what I feel at this moment,“ she said.

Indian scientists develop Herbal Medicine for Dengue
ndian scientists for first time have claimed to have developed herbal medicine against mosquito borne dengue fever using traditional Indian medicine system Ayurveda. The herbal dengue medicine was developed using alcoholic extract of Cissampelos pariera Linn (Cipa extract) derived from velvetleaf, a species of flowering plant. The drug has proved to be potent inhibitor to all four types (strains) of dengue virus.
MoEFCC releases Four Colour Classification Scheme for industries based on Pollution Index
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has released a new Four-colour Classification Scheme for industries based on their pollution potential. The four-colour classification scheme of industrial sectors based on the Pollution Index (PI) which is a function of the (i) Emissions (air pollutants) (ii) Effluents (water pollutants) (iii) hazardous wastes generated and (iv) Consumption of resources.
Capital Area Bank first to get small finance bank licence from RBI
Jalandhar based Capital Local Area Bank (CLAB) Limited became the first financial entity in India to get Small Financial Bank Licence by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). CLAB ltd claims to be largest local bank in the country with total 44 branches in five districts of Punjab. It will begin its operations as a small finance bank from April 13, 2016 and it will focus on the northern region for first five years of operations.
