Miss World 2014 title clinched by Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss

On 14th December 2014, Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss World 2014. She clinched this title at the final held in London, UK. Outgoing Miss World, Megan Young of the Philippines presented sash to Rolene Strauss.
Miss Hungary Edina Kulcsar was runner up and Miss United States Elizabeth Safrit was on third spot. Women from 121 countries contested in this 64th annual competition. 
Koyal Rana was representing India and also finished in top 10, however she got the sub-title of Best Designer of the world.
Indian Winner of last Miss World Title was Priyanka Chopra in ear 2000.

Men's Hockey Champions Trophy 2014 lifted by Germany

Among the important sports current affairs, On 14th December 2014, Germany defeated Pakistan to lift the Champions Trophy title at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Germany defeated Pakistan by 2-0 to won 10th Champions Trophy crown. 
For the third position Australia defeated India by 2-1, thus India finished fourth in the tournament.
In Hockey Champions Trophy eight nations take place these are India, Pakistan, Australia, Netherlands, Argentina, England, Belgium and Germany. Till date India has won a bronze medal in 1982 at Amstelveen, Netherlands.

Mima Ito and Miu Hirano of Japan became youngest table tennis champions

Another Important Current Affairs from the Sports Section is that On 13th December 2014, Table tennis got its youngest champions as teenagers from Japan Mima Ito and Miu Hirano won the table tennis World Grand Finals held in Bangkok.
Japanese teens won women's doubles title after defeating Poland's pair Natalia Partyka and Katarzyna Grzybowski with a score of 11-7, 11-6, 11-4, 11-5.
In Men's pair South Korea's Cho Eon-Rae and Seo Hyun-Deok emerged as winners by defeating Kenta Matsudaira and Koki Niwa of Japan.

Anerood Jugnauth named as Mauritius Prime Minister

On 14th December 2014, Anerood Jugnauth was named as new Prime Minister of Mauritius by President Purryag. Anerood Jugnauth replaced Labour Party PM Navinchandra Ramgoolam who had earlier resigned from the post on 13th December 2014. Anerood Jugnauth was a candidate of Militant Socialist Movement party and his party had made alliance with Lepep.

National Energy Conservation Day observed on 14th December

On 14th December 2014, National Energy Conservation Day was observed in India, as It is an annual event which is celebrated by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
