Fastest cricketer to reach 6000 ODI runs - Virat Kohli

Indian cricket got one more feather in its cap as noted Indian cricketer Virat Kohli became quickest to reach 6000 ODI run mark, which is among important Sports Current Affairs. Kohli broke the record of West Indian Cricketer Vivian Richards record.
Kohli who is 26 year old, needed 144 matches and 136 inning to reach his mark (He scored 20 centuries and 32 half centuries). Vivian Richards took 156 matches and 141 innings to get 6000

First state to make voting must in local body elections is Gujrat

Gujrat Governor MR OP Kohli approved Gujarat Local Authorities Laws (Amendment) Bill 2009 which made voting compulsorily in local body elections. Another important thing about this bill is, it provides 50 percent reservation for women in all local body's elections.
After the consent of Governor of state Gujrat became first state in country to make voting compulsory in local body elections and if voters fails to vote then he/she is liable for punishment and can be penalized though it is not disclosed that what action would be taken.

India won four match Men Hockey Test series against Australia

Among the important sports current affairs, Indian Hockey team has done an applaudable job as Indian team defeated Australia by 3-1 in four match Men's Hockey Test series. This series was played in Perth
In the first match Indian team tasted defeat by 0-4 but then in a major comeback Indian team won all other three matches.
For the first time Indian Team has defeated Australia in a bilateral series.
Indian Captain Sardar Singh completed his 200th international cap in the fourth match against Australia in this series.

Germany celebrated 25th anniversary of Fall of Berlin Wall on 9th November

Among the International Current Affairs, On 9th November 2014 Germany observed the 25th anniversary of fall of the Berlin Wall.
White balloons marking a stretch of the wall were released to symbolize the occasion.
Famous Berlin Wall built in year 1961 by German Democratic Republic (East Germany) to stop people fleeing from East Germany to the West and was a dividation symbol of the East and West Germany. After its fall in 1989 it became a symbol of the end of Cold War, then within a year Germany was reunited.

Darjeeling Zoo of West Bengal won Earth Heroes Award 2014

West Bengal's The Darjeeling Zoo or the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park was selected for the prestigious International Award The Earth Heroes Award for the year 2014. It is the first Zoo of India to get this award. Though getting this award was not easy as it was a competition between 300 zoos across the world. 
The Darjeeling Zoo is largest high altitude zoo of India. 
The Earth Heroes Award is given annually by Royal Bank of Scotland in collaboration with the Government of United Kingdom.

Senior IAS officer GS Sandhu appointed as Chairman of NACWC
