First state of India to with bank accounts for all families is Kerala

Kerala became first state of India to have bank accounts for all families. This goal was accomplished under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna (PMJDY). Kerala Finance Minister KM Mani at the State-Level Banker's Committee (SLBC) meeting in Thiruvananthapuram made a formal announcement about this on 11th November 2014. In Kerala about 13 lakh new accounts were opened.

National Education Day - 11th November

On 11th November 2014, National Education Day was observed across India to mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. This year it was the 125th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

On 11th November 2014, World's No.1 Lee Chong Wei was provisionally suspended for an apparent anti-doping violation by BWF (Badminton World Federation). 
Lee Chong Wei who is from Malaysia faced this suspension due to an Adverse Analytical Finding of a sample taken at the BWF World Championships in August 2014.

PM Narendra Modi on 10-Day Visit to Myanmar, Australia and Fiji

During his 10-day foreign tour, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott in Canberra after the annual summit of the Group of 20 of the world's biggest developed and emerging economies. The two-day G20 summit will be held in Brisbane from November 15. Then PM will be visiting Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne from November 16 to November 18.
PM Modi will be visiting Fiji, by this he will become first Indian premier to visit this south Pacific island nation of Fiji after 33 years. Before him Indira Gandhi had last visited in 1981.

IndiGo ordered 250 A320neo planes from Airbus Group

On 15th October 2014, IndiGo placed an order of 250 single-aisle aircraft, valued at $25.70 billion (Rs.1.50 lakh crore), at $102.8 million per aircraft. IndiGo entered into an MoU with Airbus SA to buy these aircrafts.
IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh said, "This order reaffirms IndiGo’s commitment to the long-term development of affordable air transportation. The additional aircraft will enable us to continue to bring our low fares and courteous, hassle-free service to more customers and markets and will create more job opportunities."

13 agreements signed between India and Norway to promote bilateral relations

On 14th October 2014, India and Norway signed 13 agreements to promote bilateral relations. These agreements include various sectors from defence to visa realated agreements. In the presence of President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg these agreements were signed in Oslo.
President of India Shri President Mukherjee was on three day visit to Norway from 12th to 14th October 2014.

10-year-old terminally ill boy Sadiq became Hyderabad's police commissioner for a day

On 15th October 2014, a 10-year old terminally ill boy whose name is Sadiq, became Hyderabad Police Commissioner for a day. NGO Make a Wish Foundation helped him to cherish his dream. 
Sadiq who hails from Peddapalli, Karimnagar is suffering from life-threatening cancer and is undergoing treatment for same. Sadiq in full uniform occupied the chair of Hyderabad Police Commissioner, even he was given a ceremonial welcome by the police when he arrived at the Commissioner's Office

Third navigation Satellite IRNSS 1C was successfully launched by ISRO

On 16th October 2014, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) again did a great job as it successfully launched third navigation satellite Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) 1C. IRNSS 1C was injected into orbit with the help of PSLV C26 which was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
IRNSS 1C is the third member of the seven satellite constellation of the IRNSS as IRNSS 1A and IRNSS 1B have been already launched.
IRNSS is just like GPS.

Noted Telugu writer Turaga Janaki Rani passed away

On 15th October 2014, Noted Telugu writer and former radio artiste Turaga Janaki Rani passed away in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness. She was 80 years old.
She was also very famous with the name of Radio Akkayya.

On 5th November 2014, Autobiography of Sachin Tendulkar titled "Playing It My Way" was launched by Sachin Tendulkar himself in the presence of family members, some of his former teammates and celebrities. 
In this book Sachin has mentioned many things like his life up and downs, his opinions on coaches etc. 

Captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014 is Mahendra Singh Dhoni

On 5th November 2014, There was good news for fans of MS Dhoni as Indian cricket captain was named as the captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014. Dhoni has been included in this team for eight times till now out of which he has been selected as captain for the fifth time.

Cabinet approved the treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria

On 6th October 2014, Union Cabinet approved the treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria. This was done under the Repatriation of Prisoners Act, 2003.
This transfer will help prisoners to serve the remaining part of their sentence in their countries and also this will facilitate their social rehabilitation.

World's Most Powerful People 2014 list released by Forbes

On 5th November 2014 World's Most Powerful People 2014 list was released by the Forbes. This list gives the annual ranking of the World's most 72 Most Powerful People on the basis of many parameters like their scope and use of power, the number of people they impact and financial resources.
Here few top people are by decreasing ranking : 
If we talk about India then Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ranked 15th in this annual ranking and then Mukesh Ambani was ranked 36th.

20th India Russia Inter-Governmental Commission Meeting held in New Delhi

On 5th November 2014, 20th Session of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) was held in New Delhi in which Chairwoman from Indian side was Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj  while the chairman from the Russian side was Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Rogozin.

Bharti Airtel Called off Rs 700 crore deal to acquire Loop Mobile

On 5th November 2014, Bharti Airtel Called off Rs 700 crore deal to acquire Loop Mobile. Earlier Airtel signed the deal with Loop Mobile in Feb 2014 to buy its business and assets in Mumbai but now it called it off because Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under Union Ministry of Information and Technology is yet to clear the transaction and Loop's mobile license is set to expire on 29 November 2014. 
In March 2014 Loop Mobile and Bharti had applied to the DoT for approval. President released Tulsi Smriti Granth on Acharya Tulsi

On 26th October 2014, Book titled Tulsi Smriti Granth on Acharya Tulsi was released. President Pranab Mukhejee received first copy from Dr. Karan Singh who formally released it.
Acharya Tulsi was a prominent Jain religious leader. He was born in 1914 in Ladnun, Rajasthan. He was the successor of Acharya Kalughanin. He passed away in 1997.
Acharya Tulsi was conferred with various awards viz. Indira Gandhi National Unity Award, Bharat Jyoti, Vak Pati Samman, Hakim Sur Khan Award etc.

Japan's SoftBank to invest 10 billion dollars in India

Among the Major Financial Current Affairs, On 27th October 2014, Telecom giant Soft Bank announced to make an investment of 10 billion US dollars in India's IT and Communications sector in coming years. SoftBank is aiming at telecom space and e-commerce sector in India. 
This proposal was made by Soft Bank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Masayoshi Son during his meeting with Ravi Shankar Prasad (Union Telecom Minister). Masayoshi Son also met Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

Govt scrapped ongoing selection process of CMDs, EDs in PSBs

Among the Banking Current Affairs, On 27th October 2014, The Union Finance Ministry scrapped the current selection process for the posts of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) and Executive Director (ED) of Public Sector Banks (PSBs).
This decision was taken after receiving the report of a committee that was constituted to examine the selection process. This committee was consisted of Secretary Expenditure, Secretary School Education and the RBI Governor
Important to note here that Earlier CBI found irregularities in the PSU chief selection process after Syndicate Bank CMD SK Jain's arrest in August 2014 over graft charges.

PM Modi holds talk with Vietnam PM Nguyen Tan Dung

On 28th October 2014, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This meeting was aimed to boost bilateral and regional ties. Earlier Prime Minister of Vietnam also received a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhawan. 
Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is on two day visit to India and he began his visit by paying obeisance at Mahabodi Temple in Bihar. 

Jawahar Sircar elected Vice President in Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union

On 28th October 2014, Prasar Bharati chief executive officer Jawhar Sircar was was elected as vice president of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU). He was elected in the ongoing convention and general assembly at Macau.

A Surya Prakash appointed as new Prasar Bharati Chairman

On 28th October 2014, Senior journalist A Surya Prakash appointed as new Prasar Bharati Chairman. He will be serving at this position for three years. 
He was appointed after the recommendation of three-member committee headed by Vice President M Hamid Ansari. After Sarita Devi refused to accept the bronze medal during the Asiad, On 22nd October 2014, AIBA (International Boxing Association) provisionally suspended Indian boxer Laishram Sarita Devi for protesting against a controversial verdict.
Sarita devi coaches, Messrs Gurbakhsh Singh Sandhu, Blas Iglesias Fernandez and Sagar Mal Dhayal as well as Indian chef-de-mission in the Incheon Asiad, Adille J. Sumariwalla were also provisionally suspended after incident.

Noted freedom fighter Jagdish Sharan Pande passed away

On 23rd October 2014, Noted freedom fighter Jagdish Sharan Pande passed away after prolonged illness in Almora, Uttarakhand. He was 95 years old. 
He was active social worker and had also worked for Netaji Subhash Chandra  Bose's Azad Hind Fauj. He had been jailed for two years in Burma in 1943-44 while working for Azad Hind Fauj.

Manohar Lal Khattar sworned in as Haryana CM

Among the Major Political Current Affairs on 26th October 2014, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar sworned in as chief minister of Haryana. This was the first time ever that BJP has formed govt of his own in the state of Haryana
Khattar became 10th CM of Haryana. 
BJP bagged 47 out of 90 assembly seats in Haryana to form govt.

Sania-Cara won WTA Finals Crown
Among the Important Sports Current Affairs on 26th October 2014, Tennis pair of Sania Mirza (India) and Cara Black (Zimbabwe) clinched prestigious WTA Finals title in Singapore.

Former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi removed as President of RCA

Among the Important Sports Current Affairs, On 11th October 2014, former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi was removed as President of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA)  after a no confidence motion against him. No confidence motion against him was passed in Jaipur in which 23 districts voted against Lalit Modi, total number of districts were 33. 
Elected President Amin Pathan will be serving as acting President.

Kishore Kumar Award for 2012-13 bagged by Lyricist Sameer

On 13th October 2014, Well known lyricist Sameer was awarded with National Kishore Kumar Award for 2012-13 at a function in Madya Pradesh. 
National Kishore Kumar Award is a yearly award presented by Madhya Pradesh government which carries a cash prize of 2 lakh rupees, citation, shawl and shreefal. It is presented to a person for his contribution in direction, screenplay and lyrics. 

Lok Sabha MP Kapil Krishna Thakur passed away

On 13th October 2014, Lok Sabha MP Kapil Krishna Thakur passed away in Kolkata following a lung failure. He was 73 years old.
He was a prominent leader of Matua community. Being a candidate of All India Trinamool Congress he won election in 2014 and became a MP in the 16th Lok Sabha from Bangaon Lok Sabha constituency  in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

Dutch Open Grand Prix badminton tournament title clinched by Ajay Jayaram

Among the Important Sports Current Affairs, On 12th October 2014, Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram notched up the biggest triumph of his career by winning Dutch Open Grand Prix badminton tournament title. This title carries a prize money of USD 50,000.
Bangalore-based player who is 27 year old defeated Ihsan Maulana Mustofa of Indonesia in the finals by 10-11 11-6 11-7 1-11 11-9. It was his first Grand Prix title. 
If we talk about the overseas performance of Ajay then he has already won New Zealand Open (2009), Thailand Open (2010) and Czech Open (2013).
By this win, Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram has also became the first Indian to win badminton Grand Prix tournament under the new 11 x 5 scoring system. 

Yemen appointed Khalid Bahah as new prime minister

Among the International Current Affairs, On 13th October 2014, Khaled Bahah was appointed as new Prime Minister of Yemen by President President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. 
Earlier he was serving as permanent representative of the Republic of Yemen to the United Nations. This appointment is aimed to bring an end to political unrest of Yemen. 

India Ranked at 55th Position in Global Hunger Index Report 2014

Among the Important National Current Affairs, On 13th October 2014, Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2014 was released by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Welthungerhilfe and Concern Worldwide.
India was ranked at 55th position while Pakistan and Bangladesh were ranked at 57th Position.
