PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Badarpur-Faridabad Metro

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Badarpur-Faridabad Metro in Delhi National Capital Region (NCR). The metro corridor will connect the national capital with the satellite town and give impetus to economic growth in the region by fast transportation of people. It is also first environment-friendly metro in Indian as all the stations and depot have been equipped with solar power plants.

Badarpur-Faridabad Metro Corridor It is the 14 kilometre long corridor and has nine stations from Sarai (Delhi) to Escorts Mujesar. It is an extension of the presently operational ITO-Badarpur section of the Delhi Metro. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is nodal agency in implementing this corridor and has been built at an estimated cost of 2500 crore rupees. Environment-friendly railway stations: The corridor is equipped with solar power generation facilities in all stations and depots to generate nearly 2 megawatt power. Ridership capacity: on the corridor is estimated to be around two lakh per day and help to shift a major portion of the road users to this mode of transport. It will also help to tackle the rush from satellite town as five to six coach-trains will be in service daily.


GSAT-6 Satellite successfully positioned in orbital slot of 83 Degree East

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully positioned India’s latest communication satellite GSAT-6 into its orbital slot. It was positioned in its orbital slot 83 Degree east after carrying out four drift arresting maneuvers. It has been collocated with other four communication satellites INSAT-4A, IRNSS1C, GSAT 12 and GSAT 10.

Lewis Hamilton wins 2015 Italian Grand Prix of Formula One

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton of Britain won 2015Italian Grand Prix of Formula One. This was his seventh victory of the season. His win for the season 2015 of Formula One began with Australian Grand Prix and later won Chinese Grand Prix, Bahrain Grand Prix, Canadian Grand Prix, British Grand Prix and Belgian Grand Prix.

Shane Watson retired from Test cricket


Australian all-rounderShane Watson announced his retirement from Test cricket on 6 September 2015. He announced his retirement immediately after his calf injury cut short his one-day international tour of Britain. 

He stated that he will continue his international career in the One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. 

34-year-old Watson's 10-year Test career came to an end at the Ashes opener at Cardiff, which England won by 169 runs. His 30 and 19 with the bat and failure in taking a wicket made him to lose his place for the rest of the series.

  5. The tea industry in Kerala is in crisis due to falling prices, increase in wages and high cost of fertilisers, said B.P. Kariappa, chairman of the Kanan Devan Planters’ Association.
  6. Union Government  re-constituted the Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

PM Narendra Modi flags off Kathmandu-Delhi bus service

On 25th November 2014, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sushil Koirala flagged off the Kathmandu-Delhi bus service from Kathmandu. This service was named as Pashupatinath Express.
This service is aimed to boost the bilateral ties between the two neighbouring countries and also expected to give a major boost to trade and tourism.
Route of the bus will be from Kathmandu to Bhairawa to Sanauli to Gorakhpur to Lucknow to New Delhi.

Legendary Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi died at 94

On 25th November 2014 Legendary Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi passed away in Mumbai. She was 94 years old. 
Sitara Devi was a gem of Indian dance and was honoured with many prestigious awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman. When she was just 16 years old then after watching her performance Rabindranath Tagore described her as Nritya Samragini. Apart from performing at various national and international platforms she also gave her performances in various hindi movies like Usha Haran, Nagina, Roti, Vatan, Anjali, Mother India etc.

Former SC judge CK Prasad to succeed Justice Markendey Katju as PCI chief

On 24th November 2014, Former judge of Supreme Court Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad was selected as next chairperson of the Press Council of India (PCI) by a committee headed by Vice-President Hamid Ansari.
He will be succeeding Justice Markenday Katju
Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad was appointed as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court on 20 March 2009 and then took oath as Judge of Supreme Court of India in February 2010.

Shah Rukh Khan signed as brand ambassador by DHFL

On 20th November 2014, Second largest housing finance company of India, DHFL announced the name of noted bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan as its brand ambassador. Shah Rukh Khan became first ever brand ambassador of DHFL. 
Rajesh Kumar Wadhawan founded DHFL in year 1984 and current Chairman and Managing Director of DHFL is Kapil Wadhawan.

Lahore based author Bilal Tanweer won Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize 2014

Bilal Tanweer bagged the 2014 Shakti Bhatt First Book Prize. He got this award for his novel The Scatter Here Is Too Great. Lahore based author Bilal Tanweer was honoured with a trophy and 2 lakh rupees.

Chuck Hagel resigned as US defence secretary

 US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel resigned from his post. He started to serve at this post from Feb 2013, though he will stay on as secretary until his successor is confirmed. 
Chuck Hagel was the 24th United States Secretary of defence and he served as United States Senator from Nebraska between 1997 and 2009.

At Track Asia Cup 2014, Indian cyclist Deborah clinched four gold medals

 Indian Cyclist Deborah clinched four gold medals at the Track Asia Cup Cycling Championship 2014 which was held from 21st to 23rd November 2014 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi.
Overall India finished with medal tally of total 18 medals which includes 5 Golds, 4 Silvers and 9 Bronzes.

Rising star of Indian Cycling Deborah is 19 years old and is from Andaman and Nicobar Islands. She survived the 2004 Tsunami. She was getting training from Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Andaman. 

Adani Power buys Avantha Group's 600 MW Korba West plant for Rs 4200 crore

On 24th November 2014, Adani Power signed a binding agreement with Gautam Thapar-led Avantha Group to buy its Korba West Power Co Ltd (KWPCL) 600 MW unit at 4200 crore rupees. This unit is located at Korba in Chhattisgarh. After this deal Adani Power became the largest private sector power utility in India with an installed capacity of 11040 MW.

US President Barack Obama will be chief guest of India's Republic Day 2015

On 21st November 2014, US President Barack Obama accepted the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being the Chief Guest at 66th India's Republic Day celebrations 2015.
Obama will be a part of Republic Day celebrations of India in New Delhi on 26th January 2015, thus he will become first US President to attend the Republic Day Parade of India. Last time Barack Obama visited India in 2010 on the invitation of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Col CK Nayudu Lifetime achievement award received by Dilip Vengsarkar

On 21st November 2014, Former Indian cricket captain Dilip Vengsarkar was honoured with Colonel C K Nayudu Lifetime achievement award. This award is instituted by BCCI. He was conferred with the prestigious award for this contribution to Indian Cricket. He received cheque of Rs 25 Lakh among a citation and trophy.
Indian medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar also received  Polly Umrigar award and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh. A special award was conferred to Rohit Sharma for a world record of 264 runs in the fourth ODI against Sri Lanka in the recent series.

India clinches 3rd SAFF Women's Championship in Islamabad

On 21st November 2014, Indian team won South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women's Championship at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad. Indian team defeated Nepal in the final by one sided match by the score of 6-0.
From Indian Side Ngangom Bala Devi was the star of the game as she helped the team by scoring 4 goals. 
Captain of Indian Team was Oinam Bembem Devi and Captain of Nepal team was Anu Lama.

SAARC committee decided to dissolve three regional centres

On 22nd November 2014, SAARC committee decided to dissolve three regional centres and merge four others to end the duplication of work and also to reduce its budget.
This decision was took at the 49th meeting of the joint secretaries of the SAARC countries.

Hero of 71 INS Vikrant is a history now

INS Vikrant which was once a hero of Indian Navy has finally faded away into history as on 21st November 2014 dismantling of this majestic vessel began. As earlier The Bombay High Court had given the go-ahead for Vikrant to be auctioned in January, after it rejected a public interest litigation petition to save the vessel and convert it into a maritime museum and Centre also said that it is difficult to maintain it. Indian Navy in March sold out Vikrant to Mumbai based ship breaking company for Rs. 63 Crore.

Best Project Award of India bagged by Arunachal Pradesh

Among the national current affairs, India's Best Project-2014 award for implementation of skill development and employment generation was bagged by Arunachal Pradesh . As this programme was aimed at benefit of youth, mostly less-educated and school drop-outs.
Gurgaon-based Skoch Group has instituted this award. Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu presented this award to Director of Department of Skill Development and Employment Generation Subu Tabin.

Noted director of bollywood Ravi Chopra passed away at 68

On 12th November,  bollywood director Ravi Chopra passed away in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. He was 68 years old and was suffering from lung cancer. 
Producer and Director Ravi Chopra started his career by assisting his father B R Chopra in films. His first directed film was Zameer in 1975. 
He has directed many hits like The Burning Train (1980), Aaj Ki Awaz (1984), Baghban (2003) etc. But he will be best remembered for TV Serial Mahabharata.

Supreme Court of Sri Lanka gave nod for third term to President Mahinda Rajapaksa

 On 11th November 2014, Supreme Court of Sri Lanka gave nod for third term to President Mahinda Rajapaksa. So after this decision Now President Mahinda Rajapaksa can again contest for third six year term.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa had to seek legal clarity as earlier his decision to go for third term was questioned by former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sarath Silva

Highest runs ever in ODI scored by Indian Cricketer Rohit Sharma

On 13th November 2014, Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma scored highest ODI score ever of 264 runs. It was his second double century and he is only cricketer till now to have two doulbe centuries.
Rohit Sharma played this innings of 264 runs against Sri Lanka at Kolkata. He broke the record of cricketer Virender Sehwag who had earlier scored 219 runs.

"Newton-Bhabha Fund" announced by India and UK to boost research & innovation relationship

On 12th November 2014, India and United Kingdom (UK) announced Newton-Bhabha Fund which is aimed to scale up their bilateral research & innovation relationship to a greater level. This fund contains 50 million pounds over 5 years from the UK and matched efforts from India that will further strategy the science, research and innovation cooperation between the UK and India.

Republicans elected Mitch McConnell as the Majority Leader of US Senate

On 13th November 2014, Mitch McConnell was elected as the Majority Leader of the 100-member US Senate. He was unanimously re-elected by the Republicans. 
In US Republican Party gained majority in the mid-term elections held for the US Senate on 4th November 2014.

14th November celebrated as Children's Day across India

On 14th November Bal Diwas (Children's Day) was celebrated in India to the birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. 
This day is observed every year to increase the awareness of people towards the rights, care and education of children.

India-US resolved differences over public stockholding for food security under WTO

As per the deal between two countries, the Peace Clause under Bali package will be allowed to continue in perpetuity and India's food security programme will not be challenged under the WTO rules until a permanent solution to it is found.
India will be moving this proposal on food security before the WTO's General Council in December 2014 as this agreement needs an endorsement by the 160 WTO members.

Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting award for 2014 bagged by Radio Kashmir Jammu

Prestigious "Gandhian Philosophy and Public Service Broadcasting" award for 2014 was bagged by Radio Kashmir Jammu for its programme "Jeevan Rekha".
Jeevan Rekha was a programme on rescue operations carried by Radio Kashmir Jammu during floods in the region of Jammu and Kashmir.

In this book Sachin has mentioned many things like his life up and downs, his opinions on coaches etc. 

Captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014 is Mahendra Singh Dhoni

On 5th November 2014, There was good news for fans of MS Dhoni as Indian cricket captain was named as the captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014. Dhoni has been included in this team for eight times till now out of which he has been selected as captain for the fifth time.

Jayapur village in Varanasi adopted by PM under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana

 On 5th November 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi adopted village named Jayapur located in Varanasi under newly inaugurated scheme named Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), as you must be aware of that Varanasi is the Lok Sabha constituency of PM himself.
Prime Minister is scheduled to visit this village on 7th November 2014, which will also be the first visit of PM to his constituency after being the PM of country

Cabinet approved the treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria

On 6th October 2014, Union Cabinet approved the treaty on transfer of sentenced persons between India and Nigeria. This was done under the Repatriation of Prisoners Act, 2003.
This transfer will help prisoners to serve the remaining part of their sentence in their countries and also this will facilitate their social rehabilitation.

World's Most Powerful People 2014 list released by Forbes

On 5th November 2014 World's Most Powerful People 2014 list was released by the Forbes. This list gives the annual ranking of the World's most 72 Most Powerful People on the basis of many parameters like their scope and use of power, the number of people they impact and financial resources.
Here few top people are by decreasing ranking : 
If we talk about India then Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ranked 15th in this annual ranking and then Mukesh Ambani was ranked 36th.

20th India Russia Inter-Governmental Commission Meeting held in New Delhi

On 5th November 2014, 20th Session of India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) was held in New Delhi in which Chairwoman from Indian side was Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj  while the chairman from the Russian side was Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Rogozin.

Bharti Airtel Called off Rs 700 crore deal to acquire Loop Mobile

On 5th November 2014, Bharti Airtel Called off Rs 700 crore deal to acquire Loop Mobile. Earlier Airtel signed the deal with Loop Mobile in Feb 2014 to buy its business and assets in Mumbai but now it called it off because Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under Union Ministry of Information and Technology is yet to clear the transaction and Loop's mobile license is set to expire on 29 November 2014. 
In March 2014 Loop Mobile and Bharti had applied to the DoT for approval. DoT has not given it clearance yet as Loop Mobile and its sister concern Loop Telecom owe spectrum and other charges to the government.

European Golden Boot Award 2014 bagged by Luis Suarez

On 16th October 2014, Luis Suarez who is Barcelona Football Club player was awarded with European Golden Boot Award as he was the top scorer of Europe in 2013 season. 
Luis Suarez scored 31 Premier League  goals for Liverpool in 2013. He shared this prize with Cristiano Ronaldo who plays for Real Madrid. 

On River Siyom of Arunachal Pradesh, Indo-Bangladesh Joint Rafting Expedition completed

From 1st October 2014 to 3rd October 2014, Indo-Bangladesh Joint Rafting Expedition was conducted on the Siyom River in Arunachal Pradesh state. This expedition was hosted by Army Adventure Node Centre, Aalo.
Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, GOC Spear Corps falgged off this event on 1st October while it was flagged in by Maj Gen Sunil Srivastava, GOC 56 Infantry Division on 3rd October.
The Indian Army team was led by Maj Sachin Nikam and the Bangladeshi team was led by Maj Mohd Nazmus Sadat.

On 21st October Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day was observed

On 21st October 2014, Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders (GIDD) Prevention Day was observed across the globe with an aim to create awareness of the need to prevent iodine deficiency.
This is really alarming figure that one third of world population is exposed to the risk of iodine deficiency disorders. If we talk about India alone then more than six crore people are suffering from iodine deficiency disorders.

British actress Lynda Bellingham passed away

On 19th October 2014, Famous british actress and presenter Lynda Bellingham passed away. She was 66 years old.
