Nuclear capable Prithvi II missile successfully test fired

Indigenously developed nuclear capable Prithvi-II surface-to-surface missile was successfully test-fired by the Indian Army. The missile test was carried out by Strategic Force Command (SFC) from a mobile launcher at launch complex-3 from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Odisha.

Rajiv Bansal appointed as CFO of OlaCabs

Homegrown app-based cab operator OlaCabs has appointed Rajiv Bansal as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as part of its expansion drive in the country. He will succeed Mitesh Shah who will henceforth lead strategic finance initiatives of Ola as part of Rajiv’s team. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Bansal had worked with country’s second largest software services firm Infosys as CFO but had resigned in October 2015. Presently, he is serving as Advisor to the CEO at Infosys. Mr. Bansal has 21 years of rich corporate experience in finance of which for 16 years he was associated with Infosys. Before joining Infosys, he had worked in different capacities at Tata Technologies, Cable & Wireless, and ABB.

Bihar Government bans sale of liquor from 1st April 2016

Bihar Government has banned sale of liquor in the state from 1st April 2016. This decision would make Bihar 6th dry state/UT in the country. It was announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the occasion of liquor prohibition day. This decision was taken in lines pledge made Mr. Kumar during the 2015 assembly elections to ban liquor if voted to power again. To implement the ban state government officials of the excise department are working on new liquor policy as ruling government does not want a parallel alcohol economy in the state. Presently, liquor consumption is prohibited in the states of Gujarat (1958), Nagaland (1989), Manipur (1991) and Kerala (2014) and Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

Australia, New Zealand create history by playing first day-night Test

Australia and New Zealand have created history by playing first day-night Test match at the Adelaide Oval Cricket Stadium with a pink Kookaburra ball. The first day-night test match was the third match of the series between Australia and New Zealand played for 2015 Trans-Tasman Trophy. This Test match numbered 2188 has a five-day limit and six-ball overs bowled with bright pink Kookaburra ball to ensure proper visibility in floodlights. This match is being played as per recommendations of the MCC World Cricket Committee to keep the test cricket alive.

Lok Sabha adopts resolution committing to uphold Constitution

The Lok Sabha has unanimously adopted a resolution affirming commitment to the principles and ideals of the Constitution and resolve to uphold and maintain its sanctity and supremacy. The resolution was moved by Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahaja at the end of the 2 day special sittings of the House. The special sittings was called to commemorate 125th birth anniversary celebrations of architecture of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar.


 Nuclear capable Agni-I missile successfully test-fired


Indigenously developed nuclear capable surface-to-surface ballistic missile Agni-I was successfully test-fired from Dr Abdul Kalam Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast. The user trial of the strategic missile was carried out by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of Indian Army.
