GDP grows 7.4% in Q2, mfg up 9.3%
The economy grew by 7.4% during JulySeptember on the back of higher activity in manufacturing as well as most services sectors. The expansion was quicker than the 7% rise during April-June 2015, but slower than the 8.4% growth registered during the second quarter of the last fiscal.Central Statistics Office data showed a big boost from manufacturing, seen to be critical for a rise in jobs. Compared to an expansion of 7.2% in the first quarter, the sector is estimated to have grown by 9.3% during the September quarter, the fastest pace since July-September 2012.

Despite uproar, Jan Lokpal Bill tabled

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia tabled Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill 2015 on Monday even as opponents continued to criticise it as a denatured version of the janlokpal conceived during the Anna Hazare movement of 2011.Sisodia reacted to the protests ed by Swaraj Abhiyan member Yogendra Yadav and rebel AAP MLA Pankaj Pushkar by alleging they were engineered by BJP , insinuating that Swaraj Abhiyan is a BJP affiliate.The deputy CM said the Jan Lokpal would have powers to probe anyone accused of corruption in the city , thus extending its ambit to Union ministers, MPs and central government employees in Delhi and setting the ground for a face-off with the Centre.

The e-District project that will allow residents to apply for 12 types of certificates through a simplified process and access 13 services online was launched on Monday .CM Arvind Kejriwal, who inaugurated the project, said it “will bring down timelines for delivery of certificate services, besides eliminating intermediaries and ensuring checks against fake papers“.

Union Government launches IPV injection as part of global polio endgame strategy

The Union Government has launched inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) injection as part of the global polio endgame strategy in New Delhi. The vaccine was launched by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda in New Delhi. It was launched as part of India’s next step in Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) to fight against polio virus in the country.

President gives assent Maharashtra Factories (Amendment)Bill, 2015
President Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to Maharashtra Factories (Amendment) Bill, 2015 of Maharashtra government to allow women to work in factories in night shifts The amendment bill amends Section 66(1) (c) of Factories Act, 1948 to ease provisions related to working of women in night shifts in the state.

Anil Kumble resigns as chief mentor of Mumbai Indians
Former Indian Test Captain and ace spinner Anil Kumble has resigned as the Chief Mentor of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians with an immediate effect. His decision follows after Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) crackdown on conflict of interest in the board. Earlier in November 2015, Indian cricket team director Ravi Shastri was removed from the IPL Governing Council and selector Roger Binny was asked to leave.

1st December: World AIDS Day

Every year on 1st December World Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Day is being observed to raise awareness of the pandemic caused by the spread of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. It also seeks to remember those who have died of the disease by mourning. The theme for year 2015 is ‘Getting to zero, End AIDS by 2030‘.

Indian Railways ink Rs 40000 cr deal of locomotive plants with GE, Alstom in Bihar

Indian Railways has signed 40,000 crore rupees contracts with General Electrics (GE) and Alstom to set up two locomotive plants in Bihar. Under this deal, first venture the electric locomotive factory would be set up at Madhepura city and diesel locomotive would be set up at Marhowrah district of the state.
